IWA - Double Winners at Irish HealthCare Centre Awards 2018
Irish Wheelchair Association (IWA) received two prestigious awards at the Irish HealthCare Centre Awards 2018.
The Irish HealthCare Centre Awards are generally acknowledged as the premier healthcare awards and promote recognition of the achievements of the awards finalists in the healthcare community. IWA took home the awards for:
- General HealthCare Centre of the Year - Won by IWA Clontarf
- Irish HealthCare Centre Person of the Year – Won by IWA Founding Member – Dr Oliver Murphy
IWA received 8 nominations across 4 categories for Assisted Living Services (ALS), Resource and Outreach Centres and a number of regional fundraising initiatives. IWA was the most nominated organisation across all health and social care providers, including major hospitals and commercial service providers.
Speaking at the awards ceremony, CEO of Irish Wheelchair Association, Rosemary Keogh said:
IWA’s success, in terms of both nominations and awards, is a testament to our members, staff and volunteers all across the country, who work tirelessly, year in and year out, to make a positive difference and bring us closer to achieving IWA’s vision of an Ireland where people with a disability can enjoy equal rights, choices and opportunities in how they live their lives.
In one of the most coveted awards of the evening, IWA’s sole surviving founder member, Dr Oliver Murphy was recognised for his dedication, commitment and foresight in founding IWA almost 60 years ago.
Oliver was recognised for this lifetime achievement and for his ongoing steadfastness to the provision of services and supports for people with disabilities in Ireland. IWA’s success, in terms of both nominations and awards, is recognition of the incredible impact our work, services and range of initiatives has on the lives of people with disabilities and their families throughout Ireland.
